Always love your newsletters, Erin! Happy writing! You’ve touched on pieces of this topic before, but I have a two-part question: 1) how to keep going when all you’re getting is rejection? And 2) how to evaluate a project and suss out WHY it might be getting rejected by agents (even though readers/other writer friends love it)?
Welcome back and congrats on your new schedule! Also let me gently say that it's ok if it takes some time to adjust to it. My youngest is 13, and still every September it takes me a few weeks to remember how to get work done in this space where no one is going to come interrupt me. I spend a lot of time standing in the middle of the living room trying to remember why I'm there.
I'm glad you're back! I keep trying to respond to your last poll but every time I do Substack crashes so I can't. 🙃 But just know I wanted to hit the yes option, I'm content with the ratio lol
Welcome back! It's encouraging to know you've been part-time writing while full-time parenting. As a stay-at-home-mom/writer myself, I always love seeing others who have done it/are doing it. Makes me feel less alone and gives me hope it's possible :)
I love hearing about writing, but I also appreciate hearing about the ins-and-outs of publishing. Learning how to work with agents and what goes on behind the scenes at the publishers is so interesting to me. It'll help me prepare for when I get there! Thanks for all you do!
Hello again
I'm so glad you're back! I love seeing your emails in my inbox. <3
Huzzah! Glad to have you back again Erin, hope you enjoy the transition to autumn :)
