I know this is a controversial opinion, but I’m the type of reader who is immediately taken out of a fantasy story if it has too much modern jargon or profanity in the dialogue.
This is one of my pet peeves too! I also think language—especially slang—is such an easy way to add rich detail to your world and culture. Making up swears, insults, and sayings is one of my favorite past times. 😂
