I don’t need a paperback, I’ve already got the hardcover, but I’ll start pushing it on TikTok more for the pb release. It’s seriously one of those books that just lives in my head rent free!

That’s really frustrating. I’m hearing from authors across the board who are expected to shoulder their own pub & marketing efforts, if they aren’t the “darling” of their pub/imprint. We just have to remember it’s not an equitable reflection of book quality, which sucks.

That's so frustrating. I'm so sorry, Erin.

I had to create a Google form and advertise that I had a sign up sheet for influencers, readers, and reviewers. Said it was US residents only. And made a disclaimer that their address would be shared with my publisher for mailing purposes.

Had a good turnout. 40 were interested. I had to ask them to DM me because when I shared the link the first time on social media, bots attacked the link within 10 minutes and I had nearly 1,000 responses. 🥴 I had to kill the delete the form. Created a 2.0 and told folks interested to DM me.

It went so much smoother.

Maybe, that could be an option for you?

Sorry, I haven’t read all the comments, so maybe someone else said this too: can’t you send the mailers to your publisher with stamps on them and have them mail it to the influencers? Good luck with your paperback promo!

I would love a copy of the paperback, and I will make my best effort to share online. I’m inconsistent at best, though. Someone (like Liz Griffin 🙂) who is better at posting regularly should win out over me!

I shared on Substack Notes - I hope this helps!

Ughhhh. So unbelievably frustrating. And so completely in line with the usual experiences. You want to do work/spend your own money and they’re like nah. It’s maddening.
